Unpaywall

Find Open Access articles/ papers through Unpaywall

The Central Library strives to provide access to as much of the scholarly journal literature as possible to its users. However, considering the size of published literature and also the costs of subscription, it is not possible for any one library to subscribe to all the journals that its users may need.

It is also true that any of the journal articles that our users need but may not be accessible (not subscribed by the library) may have an “open access” (free) copy online, however, it may not be discovered by the researcher.

The “Unpaywall” web browser plugin for Chrome and Firefox makes it easy for you to find if the article you need is available for free.

To get unpaywall, go to unpaywall.org from the browser you want to install it in.

Unpaywall is a reliable organization from a computer security perspective, and is supported by grants from the US National Science Foundation and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.  It was even recently lauded by Nature (May 2019).

If the Central Library doesn’t have the article/ paper you need and Unpaywall can’t find it, please use our Document Delivery Service to request it (libdds@iiti.ac.in) and we can get it for you (subject to terms and conditions) usually within just a couple of working days.
